low sig/noise ratio
good CD player
don't care about

Local stores allow you to look and play. I've never seen red lighting on alpine, just green and blue. Do new decks come with red lighting?

I used to be huge into car audio - I've always loved Alpine cd players.
Pioneers are also very good for the money, and the new Kenwoods don't look bad.
What always turned me off from the Alpine was the $ for what you get..
I've owned 2 Eclipse HU's (one being an indash tv), a Nakimichi CD45z, and about 4 Pioneers (latest was the silver one with mp3..)
Check them out also.

If I was you your best bet for under 200 is this pioneer

or this alpine

I have the alpine 9813 and it is great, plenty of power.
