Default aftermarket steering wheel and inspections

How do you deal with inspections with no airbag , SRS light always on or not on at all? I am looking into getting a quick release setup and want to know if I could get by with the inspection.

Cheers

Brian

If it came with airbags you have to have airbags at time of inspection. Just keep your stock wheel and swap swap them out if you want it that bad.

Pull the dash apart, break the connection for that led on the airbag light, reassemble and don't worry about it.

More than likely will not work. The airbag still has to be there for it to pass inspection.

theres an airbag kill switch out there. or you could just yank it out for the aftermarket, pull the bulb from the cluster, and just swap the wheels during inspection. or just hope they dont realize your car ever had airbags(if its an older vehicle, they might not notice). youre gonna have to do some work to get the horn to work too

When they look at the vin tag it says air bag on it. Highly unlikely they wont notice that.

So this quick release steering wheel is for a track car?

By the way, if you disable the bulb it will fail inspection. They look for the light to come on and then shut off after the system does its startup diagnostics. No light, system is obviously missing of not functional.

The quick release would have been an NRG set up mainly because of the look factor. I could get an HKB hub that functions just as well but wanted to spruce up my interior. Thanks for the replies, pretty much: car won't pass without airbag if it came with it originally. I made this thread to ask people who have quick release/ after market steering wheels to see what the do personally for inspections.

Cheers

Also, insurance would be a problem. If you were injured for some reason, insurance companies would be much less likely to pay out.

They would say "you removed a safety device, therefore you wholeheartedly took the risk of danger and injury into your own control".
