Re: 88 prelude b20a
88-89 preludes came with the b20a3 (carburated) motors and the b20a5 motors (iron sleeved)
90-91 came with the b20a5 and the b21a1(frm sleeves)
the b20a has just a little higher compression and is iron sleeved
these motors are, let say the "test phase" of honda that stems to the more current b, h, k,j,d motors. and the last flip up headlight (except for the nsx).
these motors are known as the "Bastard B" motors as they are the bastard child of the the b series motors (duh) being that NO OTHER B series part will interchange with them. not vtec heads, intakes, exhaust, bottom end, valve trains. nothing will interchange (well the cam gears does....) of course you can make anything work with money and knowledge.
also, the aftermarket support for these motors and the year and model itself is very scares, even the rear upper ball joint is being discontinued by honda. the good thing is vendors are slowly making components for the car, albeit slow but its out there, you just need to know where to look.
if you want to boost the motor
the h23/f22 rods are the same but a little beefier than the bastard b.
wiseco always makes custom pistons
cometic just started making metal gaskets
arp has a set made for the motor already
some members are making exhaust manifolds at the moment
and some of the things needed are readily available
if you want to swap a different kind of motor.. well the only successful motor that can be readily swapped in is the "H"
mounts are made by esp
engine harness can be had from rywire
axles from raxles or gator (or a cheaper alternative is also avaialble)
no other motor has been successfully swapped in and running with information on how to do it is available.
with suspension theres a few companys offering options so no big deal there.
In my honest opinion. i love the 3rd gen preludes, they are different from any other hondas and very few are running and looks decent so that already is a cool factor of it, i guess...
also if you ever drive a 3g with 4ws, i can almost guarantee that youll fall in love! mkaynohomo. not that the 2ws is crap or anything like that.
edit: in case you didnt get it i own a 3g haha
heres vvvv mine, my daily driving turd gen

So you mean that just because it shares a letter in the name, all of the parts don't interchange with everything else Honda makes...? Weird, I thought that's what happens when you name something.

Op, u just need the front rack, rear rack, rear rack sub frame and the 4way p/s like splitter that should be located right behind the rear motor mount.
