Default WRX (CEL) Problems

I recently put a Check Engine Light (CEL) eliminator on the 02 sensor in my downpipe and I also reset the ECU. The car drove fine but ran less boost and boosted slower but the CEL was off. I was cruising @ 65mph when the CEL light came back on and the car drove strong as before. WTF! Help me Scooby owners. I am getting a TXS Utec in Jan. but I want my engine to last until then.

Hey man, I think I saw you in VA Beach a couple of weeks ago on Holland. If you were there I had the Yellow WRX parked next to the two blue ones. I have to say, nice car for a fellow of such young age. Props bro!

In your downpipe ? I CEL eliminated the o2 for the last cat...

undo it, redo it, make sure its right. BTW your engine lasting shouldn't have any bearing on this problem...

The HKS downpipe has no cats and there is a hole for the 02 sensor.

Couple things for ya.......you either did it wrong or the connections are......not very good......make sure you crimped and not solder........because the wires are stainless.......and make sure you put the MIL eliminator about two inches from the DP and not the connector.......and if you say that you are not hitting that much boost....it could be the hole in the DP (leak)..........you don't have to have a bung welded on..........you can go to lowe's or something and find a bolt to put in there....make sure you get no leaks though.......if you need more help im in Hampton......PM me or something

ummm ur rear o2 has no bearing on ur engine just as twelvz said. its an obdII emissions sensor and its there for to see if ur cat is functioning correctly or not. it doesnt affect ur air fuel ratios because wrx ecu uses the front o2 sensor/various other sensors for that...so ur car *shouldnt* run any different with the cel on or off. IF the code is a p0420.

get it pulled. and post what the code is. if its a p0420..no big deal. if its anything else...well just post it up and we can see what we can do.

ps. the only o2 sensor ur are supposed to have in a downpipe is a wideband.

hey blaze...i was with the blue wrx you raced that night comin from holland. I had the blue wrx. I actually had somewhat of the same problem. I suppose i installed the MIL eliminator wrong b/c it came on a few days after. But i had no performance problem, so i figured i'd just keep the CEL til i got a UTEC.
-Just go to Pep Boys or Auto Zone and they can pull the code for you for free.
