While I've never had mexican on the west coast I can tell you 100% that tortilla west is the most white bread mexican place in hampton roads. I was within walking distance for quite a while and went there quite a bit but in NO way shape or form is this "mexican" food.

Great beer list
Great sandwiches
Great nachos

NOT legit mexican food.

What do you consider to be "mexican" food?

They used can chicken. I don't think I even have to explain myself anymore but I will.

Want legit mexican food? Go to El Rey Taqueria in Norfolk.

That's more of what I meant....what legit mexican place do you recommend.

Tortilla West is basically The Tap House but with mexican food instead of tex-mex-ish food.

El Ray Taquiera is the best mexican food in the area.

Tortilla west is awesome, dont get me wrong, but I dont consider it mexican at all. Hell the best thing I had from there was their Cuban Sandwich (which is fucking amazing I might add).

Best Burgers - Manny Burger on Lafayette BLVD in Norfolk, or Billy Burger (dunno if thats its real name, or if its even there) on I think Liberty St (maybe Poindexter?) in South Norfolk.

Best Hot Dogs - Tony's Hot Dogs (the original, not his worthless son's cart) on Lafayette Blvd in Norfolk

Best Pizza - Granby St Pizza on Granby St in Downtown norfolk. Stuffed Meat Pizza = 10lbs of pizza heaven.

Im sure this has been mentioned, but I went to Bardo's for the first time on friday. Was very impressed, food was delicious, and freaking cheap since its tappas and the portions are smaller, but not that small to where it wont satisfy a hunger. Get two things and its like 12 bucks and is really good.

I always get at least 3-4 things + the dip sum doughnuts.

Edamame
Buddha Buns
Crab Cake
Kobe Beef Carpaccio
Dip Sum Doughnuts

I'll stray on occasion but that's about the norm.

Regal beagle taphouse and grill.
17th and medeterranian.

I've enjoyed the food here every time. $10 prime rib is off the hook good. they've got a huge draft beer selection and its a good atmosphere.

Fair priced Mexican, gotta check out Moe's Hilltop.
Similar to Qudoba and Chipotle but MUCH better.
Home wrecker burrito will own you.
WELCOME TO MOE'S!
Laskin @ First Colonial.

On the other side of First Colonial is No Frill Grill.
American style cooking with some flare.
I've been there 3 times and haven't found a dish that I don't love.
AWESOME burgers.
Prices around and under $10/meal.
