Default New to the VA car scene. help!

Im new to the va beach car scene. But ive been into cars for as long as i can remember. Im 18 and drive a 1990 supercharged thunderbird. Im not really into street racing itself but more into cars. Just wondering where some meets around here are the only one ive seen is the one at the freedom wash but that was mostly turbo civics and dodge intrepeds. Anyone know of a place more oriented towards performance and not to show? Any help would be appreciated.

Since when is a turbo civic a show car?

and if you aren't into street racing...why would you want to go to a more "performance oriented" spot? contradiction of interest if you ask me.

but I don't know of anything on that side of the water, I know in Hampton a lot of Mustangs and other muscle cars would get together in the summer at bass pro.

not really sayin a turbo civic is a show car just it seemed that all that were there were ricers. And i dont like ricers. by performance oriented i meant cars with built motors and turbos not just k&n air intakes to make them fast. Just because i want to be more performance oriented does not mean i have to street race. Im more into auto x and drift events. You cant really do that on city streets around here.
