Talking THE GOAL: Build the first 13 Sec Lincoln Town Car in 757

This is not a joke, well, yeah it kinda is. I just bought a 5.0 HO Lincoln Town Car with only 33,000 miles. I'm thinking of tearing into the motor and doing the usual 5.0 tricks and add a nasty Procharger to the top. With a little work on the other parts of the car, I think high 13's would be possible and still make the car reliable and comfortable.

I know it's far fetched, but do any of you FORD guys think this possible?

they have a 289 in them from what i can remember. just free up some air in them, spray some nitrous into it and play with the timing some. the biggest problem you'll probably have is that the gearing in those cars is setup for nothing but cruising. my mom's old town car shifted like a damn pillow. if you find the trans code for it you might be able to find a shift improver kit though.

This Town Car is a 1989. It has a similar 5.0 302 as the 87-93 Mustangs. I beleive you are refering to the newer 4.6 V8 which is actually only a 281 CI V8. The Newer 4.6 V8 made its first appearance in the 1992 Town Car. It has standard AOD Ford overdrive tranny, it's just tuned to shift really soft.

I agree, the gearing would have to change, but should be no problem either, as it has a standard Ford solid Rear End. The shift improver kit is available through Ford Racing. Right now I'm just exploring the idea of a fast Lincoln Town Car. I think it is possible, just not orthodox in the performance world.

Oh, by-the-way, I'm posting this from my friend's computer, this is actually Drop Top 13B typing.

anything is possible if you throw enough money at it.

be sure to take pictures of the buildup process.

Well...you've got a long way to go there...can't say it wouldn't be interesting though!

Let's see...it'll probably run like 17+ in the 1/4, probably a 10 sec 0-60 time...that's a long way to go to 13...lol...

Hmmm....strip out the back and tunk area, door panels, not happening i'll guess since the ride's gotta be pimp and all...

Charger...mmm...that'll help...charger+125 shot....firm the slushbox up...gah...the amount of $ it'll take gives me a headache!

First mod you should make is getting the old people smell out of the thing...

HA HA HA HA HA!!!

Well, that's a much more positive response than I had anticapated. The official Performance numbers are 11.1 0-60, and 17.9 1/4 mile. YEAH, I'd say I have a ways to go. I can't find any info on this things stock HP and TQ output though. I'm guessing somewhere in the 190-200 HP range and 275-300 lbs TQ range. After a little research it looks like the first major things to change would be the Heads, Cam, Intake Manifold and ECU. Next would be beef up the tranny. I've found a couple of kits available that include the Heads, Cam, Intake, Pushrods, and Roller Rockers that are supposed to make 350 HP on a Mustang 302, so if the bottome end is the same or similar that would be a good start. The kit is from Ford Racing and retails for $2199. And I can get it for cost. So I thinking that for less than $2000 and my own labor, I could get it into the 15's with little trouble.

The car is HUGE, but it isn't as heavy as most would think. It weighs in at around 4200 lbs.

Of course, thisis all in theory, and I'm barely into the research stage of this tentative project. I just think it would be fun to beat up on imports with a good ol' American TANK.

Shoppin List for a 15 sec Town Car:

Ford Racing Kit (heads, cam, intake mani, roller rockers)
Ford Racing ECU
Shorty Headers
Flowmaster Duel Exhaust
B&M Shift Kit
BBK 70mm TB
21 lbs Fuel Injectors
3.73 rear end gears(instead of the factory 2.52), that should be good for almost a second right there.
22" Spinny Dubs.

Let me know if I forgotten anything major.
