Re: Car loans
I've worked in lending before and your best bet is requesting an auto loan from your own financial institution. Of course when it comes to lending, your rate will reflect your current credit status. If it's pretty bad, then you're SOL...you're either gunna have a high apr or they're gunna "regretfully deny" your request. From there, if you're gunna go through a dealership...you're more than likey gunna have to go through the banks that they use...and most of the time, the interest rates/apr's are very high. If you decide to get the car anyway and finance through them, then get your finances situated with at least a steady incline of credibility and refinance for a better rate with your bank a second time around. Your chances will be a lot better then.
Also be careful with how many hits you put on your credit report from "searching" around.
One thing you also have to consider is insurance. Inquire with your current insurance company about an estimate on how much your new insurance will be with this new car. It's something that I know a lot of people don't do...and it's very wise if you do it. If your worried about high interest rates, then you should worry about a high increase to your auto insurance premiums. Just something to think about. I'm a licensed agent by the way.
Hope this helped. Good luck.
