ASVAB Scores
I don't remember if there's another thread about this, but I took mine today (( I plan on joining the AF )) for the first time and it's estimated to be in the 81st percentile, so I'm pretty happy. I haven't been in school for over a year and a half and I didn't put an hour into studying for this. My dad in 88' when he joined scored in the 88th percentile, and the recruiter says the national average (( sadly )) is in the mid-30s, and locally it's even lower.

When I took it in 1993 before I joined the good old Navy, I scored in the 98%... they wanted me to go in the nuclear field... I laughed at them and told them where they could go.

I think he made the right decision by telling them no. If you don't like nuclear power, it's simply not worth it.

What a joke. MOST Nukes have 5, or 6 year contracts, due to their school length. They also get treated like pure dog shit while they are onboard, and probably have the 2nd, or 3rd hardest job in the fleet.. next to the likes of some of the aviation rates, such as ABE.
I think he made the right decision by telling them no. If you don't like nuclear power, it's simply not worth it.

I think I had 95 or 96 when I took it back in high school. The guy wouldnt leave me alone to go back to my class so I had to listen to his BS for like 10 minutes about why I should join.
