Any one commute from Ptown to Va beach Today??
I have a situation. My mom calls my dad around 5pm today telling him that the area is flooded, she needed gas, and her phone was about to die. It's 9:45 now and she's still not home.
All i know is that she was coming home from Portsmouth Naval Base and that she was on elm street. She also said she needed gas but thats about it.
Did anyone come from that area today to come home to va beach? Is that area still flooded now? How is traffic there, should she have been home by now? Any info will be great, I do plan on looking for her if she doesnt come home soon. Thanks

I had to pick my GF up from work in Norfolk back by Green Gifford and if I wasn't driving a 4x4 F-150 I'd have been having issues. I was up over the tires in water.

I'd be going looking for her if I were you dude. I know the downtown tunnel was closed coming eastbound, but still, it shouldnt have taken that long.

Okay, my mom doesnt usually take the highway. I think she takes elm street then finds her way to Indian river Road and comes home that way (we live close to indian river/kempsville area). So if she did go that way, would that route be blocked?
I noticed on google maps that there were a couple bridges she would have to cross.
So I dont think my mom drove on the interstate so I dont think she would go through any tunnel (not sure though of her route).
But even if it was the tunnel was flooded out, are people still stranded there? Sucks her phone died.

Location:Portsmouth (City)
Description:
On I-264 in the City of Portsmouth, at Downtown Tunnel East, motorists can expect minor delays due to standing water. The east left lane and right lane are closed.
Motorists using I-264 east in Portsmouth to the Downtown Tunnel are being rerouted to the Crawford Street off ramp, then left on Court Street and left on London Boulevard to the Midtown Tunnel due to the Downtown Tunnel flooding in the east tube.

That area shouldnt have flooded. The main area's for flooding around here are downtown/oldtowne portsmouth and downtown norfolk/freemason/ghent.
