It isn't "turbo" friendly per say. The GE block has no oil squirters and a higher compression then the GTE. People in the IS community generally compensate by changing the headgasket (which you do not mention doing) OR take the correct approach and swap the GTE bottom into their cars when approaching the 500 mark. Why? The pistons are stronger in the GTE.
