So it's loosing quite a lot, enough that would definitely be noticeable were it a leak

If you say it doesnt smoke and it's loosing that much oil, then somthing isnt adding up. The oil has to go somehwere, whether it be back into the atmosphere as smoke or on the ground. It cant just dissapear.

And if it IS loosing enought to be below the low mark within a week, then it should be puking it out of a gasket or POURING smoke out of the exhaust.

a week after an oil change was a bit of an exaggeration, probably more like 3-4 weeks. But the point is I always end up having to add oil well before my oil change is due.

it's got to be burning it. maybe not enough to notice but like we both said, its gotta be going somewhere. Just rebuild it and then its good
