I JUST CHANGED THE HEAD GASKET ON MY 91 INTEGRA AND NOW IT WONT START. IT TRYS TO TURN OVER AND SOUNDS LIKE THERES A BACKFIRE WHEN TRYING TO START?? WHAT COULD BE WRONG I SET MY PISTON TO TDC WHEN I CHANGED THE GASKET I LINED UP THE TIMING BELT I DONT KNOW WHAT COULD BE WRONG. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME OUT.

and if its backfiring i would bet money the timings off..

yea i think i messed up the timing too how would i adjust the timing now that its off?

take the timing belt back off and find tdc...then align the cams and replace belt...

OK. I JUST TOOK OFF THE TIMING BELT AGAIN AND LINED IT UP TO TDC ON CYLINDER #1. THE ARROWS ON THE CAMS ARE BOTH POINTING UP AND IT LOOKS FINE I REPLACED THE BELT AND VALVE COVER AND TRIED TO START AGAIN AND ITS DOING THE SAME THING...... COULD IT BE THE DISTRIBUTOR?? BECAUSE MY FRIEND WAS TURNING THE ROTAR WHEEL WHEN IT WAS LAYING IN MY GARAGE.

ok well first turn off the caps...there is no need...

and you may be able to get the dist in 180 out...its offcenter but i guess you could iof you really tried...

just take the cap off first and leave it at tdc and see if the rotor button is pointing at #1 plug on the cap...if not move it and also check the firing order...
