Lexus 01 IS300 Headlight Issue..
My brother's Lexus is having a headlight issue. One of the headlights went out a few months ago. We replaced the lights with a 10K HID upgrade from the 6K I believe it came with stock. Shortly after replacing both headlights, they went out completely. One of them will work if jiggled around a bit, the one that was out to start with is still not working. So my question is, what is my next step in getting these lights to work? I rather not take it to a dealer if it's something small. I was told it could be a bad ballast for that particular headlight but I don't know. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.

Are these stock HIDs? The fact that the one light works when you jiggle it sounds like a wiring or bulb problem, not a ballast problem. Who knows what's wrong with the other side, could be a ballast.

Yes. The one that was blown out was stock. We replaced BOTH of them with the aftermarket 10k HID. I figured it was a wiring problem with the one that is off and on. Right now it's just off and staying that way. I dont want to order a whole new HID kit if it's something little.

You replaced both what? Both sides? Both bulbs? Both ballasts?
If you've replaced both sides, bulbs and ballasts, the dead side is probably a wiring problem before the ballast, and the intermittent side is probably wiring between the ballast and the bulb, or the bulb itself.

OK well I'm going to order a new ballast for the one that is out completely. Hope this will work and mess with the wiring on the one that is acting up. Thanks for the help. I'll updating accordingly.

Be sure to test that you're getting power, etc., to the ballast that you think is bad. You just want to check that it's not something simple not a bad relay, etc., instead of the ballast. Luckily there aren't that many parts to an HID system, although that stuff's expensive.
Good luck and hope everything works out.

could be shit bulbs you got. could be a ballast. could be an ignitor. could be a plethora of different things. check out customlightz.com , he's got quite a selection of new/used parts, and he's local and usually willing to help.
