    New wheels for Mustangs....no really.

Our shop, Performance Autosport, has been trying to get a replica of a certain wheel made for quite some time. The wheel that we were aiming for is a Stern 5spoke wheel that came on foxbody Saleens and are extremely popular with the Saleen crowd. Well we finally found the right people for the job and today our first few sets landed at our door.

The main thing we wanted to accomplish was retain the same look of a Stern, but obviously at a fraction of the cost. For example, the last set of Sterns we sold at PAS went for $4,000. These wheels will be under $1000 for the whole set. Another idea we had was to make them in 4lug as well as 5lug to extend the market to those with foxbodies that have not done a 5lug conversion...no sense in leaving them out. The sizes are also different then stock Stern choices. The ones on my car below are 17x9s (+24) and 17x10s (+20). The rear has a substantial lip.

The design isn't groundbreaking by any means, but if you know of the original wheels I'm speaking of these are a very cost effective alternative.

For comparison sake, here is a few examples of the REAL Sterns:

The ones we will start selling can be ordered in silver, black with a machined lip, or chrome.

Here they are on my Cobra:

Any input or opinions are welcome. I know they arent anything special, but...there they be.

And yes...I really did drive around tonight with Chrome wheels on the passenger side and black wheels on the driver's side. Tomorrow I'll photograph my car in the day light and then they'll be coming off because the Chrome wheels are already sold. Someone walked in the shop as we were unboxing them and said he'd take them. Thats fine with me, I'm already missing my Azenis...I HATE drag radials!

Oh, and everyone keep in mind these will fit many other types of vehicles. I'll be test fitting them (without the 315 Nittos of course) on my 5lug'd S13 to see how they fit. I believe they were also previously tested on a 350z, but all the obvious cars with the same bolt pattern will work.

I don't believe I can get +10s, but I'll check what options we have.

Sadly we were so busy today I never got out the scale to weigh them. I'll make sure to do so tomorrow. I wouldn't be too optimistic, they didn't seem too ultra light, but we'll see.

they look good but something seems weird. I think its because you've got sooo much meat on the tires. I think they would look good bigger with lower profile tires.
