01 Tacoma lift kit

So i have a 2001 Tacoma 4 cyl 2.7 liter 5 spd sr5.... ive been lookign for a lift kit for it but all ive found are the full systems from fabtech for 6" but i dont want something that big... and the only 3" and 3.5" lifts are coilovers... any feedback from using coilovers? good bad? anyone make a full system 3" lift? anything help would be appreciated.

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

I'd get the coilovers for the front and add-a leafs for the back if all you want is 3". Highly recommend getting the diff. drop as well.

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

www.toyteclifts.com they have what your looking for, go with a new spring dont cheap out and get spacers unless you really have too, coilovers are a lot of money but they are they best, you schould only need a dif drop if you go with a full 3inches, at 2.5 you will be ok without it....and you schould still be able to run 33's

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

cornfed makes a spacer lift for it.
Old man emu makes coils.

Leaves you can find just about anywhere.

check around on ttora and you will find a plethora of information regarding different lifts

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

ugh??? not sure who that is or im just having a brain fart, id upgrade the shocks if i were you, with a 3 inch lift you really arnt putting to much more stress on the truck, its a toyota so dont worry too much.....

grantsmith 10-09-2007 04:44 PM

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

i have it lifted on blocks right now.. but i bought it like that... but i dont like spacers

xp1ik05 10-10-2007 01:51 AM

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

um ok. take the blocks out, get an add-a-leaf or get your springs re-arched or buy some new rear springs all together, dont get a spacer lift for the front, get new springs, they sell a complete kit on there just buy that one......

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

by the way you aren't going to be able to fit 33's with a 3 inch kit without alot of rubbing issues.

grantsmith 10-12-2007 03:12 PM

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

really? i run 33's right now witht he setup i got and thats def. a lot less than 3" but there spacers

ummm no not true, im running 2.5 of lift with 33's.....granted im driving an 07 but the older trucks have a much easier time clearing 33's than the newer style, my buddys old 04 tacoma on 3 inch lift and 33's never had any rubbing problems, its the changing of the wheels that will get ya, its all about the backspacing and the stock rims will work fine, anything too much or less than stock will prob rub........

Just to point out, I have the old 94 stock (no lift S or B) and run 32 10.5's-16 and have no rubbing issues.

i believe you might have torsion bars that you can crank up a little bit for a little extra clearance.

grantsmith 10-12-2007 06:05 PM

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

so 33's will work just dont go bigger than 12.5 or 12.5 is to wide?

i have a 95.5 tacoma with 3in body lift( not by choice) 33x12.50 15in tires and they rub pretty damn bad. 31x10.50s even rubbed in reverse

if you have 15inch rims, go with 10.5 wide tire, looks like a pizza cutter but not to bad, you schouldnt have any rubbing, 16inch rims and go with 285/75r16 or 255/85r16, the 285 is around 33inches tall and about 11.3 inches wide depending on the tires, the 255's are like 33.4 inches tall and about 10 inches wide, bfg m/t's and trxxus m/t's are the only tires i know of that come in that size..........

its prob something to do with the backspacing or offset on your rims, its understandable to have the 12.5's rub, 10.5's somewhat......are you running stock rims?????????

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

there anything i can get to get a fatter tire

judge 10-13-2007 01:29 PM

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

3 more inches of lift via "body"

grantsmith 10-13-2007 09:55 PM

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

thats what i was thinking..... my wallets gonna hate me.. how much you think a 3" body and 3 inch coil willc ost to install

xp1ik05 10-14-2007 03:50 AM

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

is it really worth putting a nasty ass body lift on for a maybe 1 inch wider tire???? you could get try some new rims with better backspacing to help prevent rubbing.........

not gonna happen. and i dont see why there is anything wrong with a body lift.

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

well i guess its just my opinion but i just think they look terrible, nothing as horrible looking as some frame hanging down and big ol'gaps, tacomas dont look tooo horrible but its still a body lift none the less

judge 10-14-2007 06:09 AM

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

if done right you dont see any of that shit. i like em just because i have a lower center of gravity, meaning most of the weight is closer to the ground.

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

im not looking for much.. will it seriuos take a 3" to get 33's by 12.5 under there?

judge 10-14-2007 01:38 PM

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

yes cause you will have decent wheel travel when you do.

grantsmith 10-22-2007 08:01 AM

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

so final question... from toytec.. should i get the 3"s coil lift with AAL's or get the coil overs for the front and AAL in the back? money isnt an issue

xp1ik05 10-22-2007 08:34 AM

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

coilovers if money isnt an option......

supertaco33 10-22-2007 09:06 AM

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

all you need is a 2.5 spacer lift and an add a leaf in the rear i had 33's on my taco with little rub. really when i was deep in mud

grantsmith 10-22-2007 03:24 PM

Re: 01 Tacoma lift kit

dont like spacer's.. so coilover's it is... those toytec ones good?
