on the cam gears. arrows pointing up with marks on the side lined up even across the head

line the crank up to the mark on cover or oil pump

Take off your valve cover and crank your motor. Look and see if the valves are moving correctly. May be too tight, like the guy above me said.

Re: how to set timing on a gsr

when you put your valves in the head, your adjusting screws are set to stock valves, and stock cams.

one or more things could cause valves to be to tight.

the only thing i can tell you is to check and see if they are adjusted correctly. look eithe ron honda-tech, or the helms manual.

its real easy to do, if you've done them before.

if not bring me the ccar, and i will do it for you.

BTW, did you put aftermarket cams, springs, retainers, and valves in the car?

or just valves?

a little more information is needed.

are you sure your timing belt is correct? both cam marks should be parallel to the head, not the ground., and the mark on the timing cover is what you use to line up the crank. double check it with a long screwdriver through the #1 cylinder spark plug hole

Re: how to set timing on a gsr

Did you check the belt tensioner. It's either that, or you have the wrong belt on.
