Loud tires

I've had these BFGs (185/60/14) for about 20,000 miles now and recently they've become VERY noisy and loud. I filled them to the recommended pressure and it didnt go away. It seemed to have been coming from the right rear, so i got my tires rotated and if anything it seems to have gotten louder. Its so loud that it gives me a headache and i cant hear my music or exhaust, and gets louder the faster i go.. Maybe they need to be rebalanced? ANY help will be appreciated.

it isnt an easy job on a bmw. sorry man i cant help you out but they make a bad ass noise when going bad. installation is going to kill you probably if you cant do it

m tire does the same, i heard something about it being balancing also but i dunno, my car is now park for 3 months so no noise for awhile atleast.

Ohh and another thing, the sound goes away when i make left turns and comes back when i straightin out...

I dont think the tires can make the noise. Is this noise a clicking noise or is it a more "smooth" noise. Are you sure something might not be rubbing against your rotor?

its more like a humming, wooowoowooowoooing sound. No clicking or grinding, i got the axles replaced already.

That's the natural sound of tires being worn. If you have 20K miles on them, then the noise you are hearing is the reminder to get some new rubber in the near future. Check the tread. They may still last for some time, but the unbearable noise gets louder and louder. My Yokohamas were the worst.

Yea, it's on the same basis as the squeaking that brake pads do when they're wearing out. Loud things get annoying, and people want to change them :p It might be that they're up to their tread life, like Skywalker said.

No way they are on their way out! I just bought them a little over a year ago. They are rated at 40,000miles. Theres plenty of tread left in them...

Skywalker 11-13-2002 10:23 AM

40K miles?!?!?! If you get that far without tire noise that'll drive you insane, let me know what kind of tires. I'll invest in their company.

lol, mine just does it with some cheap tires. who knows, the tire does need replaced though.
