Hey-yo! After a highly unsuccessul search around Hampton Roads for a 8mm or 5/16 freeze plug/welch plug/oil galley plug, I was entirely unsuccessful. I went back to the machine shop to ask them if i should (1) use my old cap, or (2) order one online and wait a week.

Well, the old hand behind the desk went into the back and found an 8mm for me. One of the shop hands tapped it in, with a healthy dose of lock-tight. He was going to try to burr it so it couldn't back out, like we had discussed --- but he was unable to get a lip since the end of the countershaft isn't exactly a 90 degree angle, its tapered a bit.

Anyways, they got it in there, and then i brought her back home and remove teh oil pump, put the timing chain in (whoopsi!) and reinstalled the oil pump again.

Now this bitch is ready to go back together.

looks like quite the experience for a learning bike. when i was in georgia, i built a crf450 in my hotel room and rebuilt a trx250r motor in the kitchen of the hotel room.

The guy behind the desk just gave me the oil galley plug. it costs like $0.68 for them, i think. When i asked 'em what I owed teh shop, he said to just throw the worker a few bones for his time (just took a minute). I didnt have any cash, so i went to 7-11 and got him a Gatorade and $10 of cashback (max allowed).

 Yay for abacus.

For sure. I'm going to be installing the crankcase into the frame soon and then working my way up: cylinder ---> head ---> then finish up the clutch/alternator/etc.

you don't want to assemble the entire motor first then insert?
