You'll get your lightweight Datsun either in the form of a lighter Z or a new 240. I doubt it picks up the Datsun name though.

Also... there was that 610 concept they made; The iDx

That Mazda 6 wagon looks mighty fine.
If only there was a SkyActiv Turbo offered.
I still wonder why the new MX5 isn't SkyActiv powered.

Was the Mazdaspeed6's AWD system not in house? I know the 6 was based off the Fusion platform, but I didn't think there was an AWD Fusion?

Thought I heard a rumor the next Speed3 will be AWD.

SA-T will be in the next Speed 3
And the new MX5 is skyactive, it's the same engine as the base Mazda3.

The speed6 had a haldex system that was weak, but was still Mazda's fault. It didn't break per se, just ripped itself from the car. The CX9 has a Ford transfer case that just empties its guts on the ground until they refresh it. Fusion had awd but only a later generation.

I would do evil things to buy a brand new 2007 STI limited in present day and age. Maybe this doesn't fit the criteria since they still make a new STI limited, but the 06-07 were my favorite bodystyle, especially with leather seats, and a wingless trunk. Besides that, as mentioned earlier, a modern day reinterpretation of the Datsun 240z would be the bees knees.
