Wow isn't that like a sin in some states to own an fbody and a mustang? I can see some family disputes over such a thing. Welcome to the boards Cory, hmmm people named Corey or Cory are still cool as shit. You just joined the club listserv too correct?
:hi:

I have to agree, the WS6 is perhaps one of the only domestics that I actually give respect to, nice car man.

Why would it be so hard for you to give a domestic respect?

Alright, well here goes the minefield, gotta watch what I say as I can see it right now this is going to spark a huge debate. I really just dont have alot of respect for many of the current muscle cars out there. The SS, z06 and the WS6 being three of the exceptions.
To me cars such as the Gt's are just far too slow for the whole domestic hype that goes on. For the amount of displacement they have they are just too slow. In addition they are mainly known for just straight line performance and therefore if they get beat at their own game it just really really downplays their glamor IMO. A GT costs roughly the same as say a WRX, and yet both pull about the same times, not very impressive IMO. With the more recent imports that have come out it just really begins to point out so many of the muscle cars flaws, when they are made for mainly one purpose and even in that purpose get beaten.
Now I know this will spark comments like "what about the 03 cobra" etc, but you know what that thing isnt that fast stock. The soon to be released STi and Evo are so extremely close to its straight line performance it isnt funny, and they do it for the same price, all while maintaining the traction, unbelievable braking abilities, turning abilities, and luxuries that we have all grown to love of the modern imports. Other comments such as "it can hit 11's for less than 1000 dollars or so" im sure will also be brough up, but again I think comments such as that are kind of pointless too since after seeing the stock setup on both the STi and Evo it is extremely apparent from my opinion that extremely similar if not better figures will be available to both of them for the same price.
Now if we wanna talk about old muscle cars I cant say much, but from my experience they are retardedly inefficient. Heavy, gas guzzling, poor turning, fast machines. Again they were made for one purpose, and their ability to obtain fast speeds isnt that superior and also is overshadowed by just about every other poor aspect of their streetability.
Like I said I'm sure I'm going to get some flames for it, but honestly I'm not trying to piss anyone off, and like my original post said I just intended to compliment him on his car. I just am expressing my own personal opinion here, and im sure mine wont match others but thats fine, i suppose if you want you can express it as well, just try to do it without just blatantly flaming. In other words if you dont agree with my opinion then lets see if we cant get a nice mature discussion going on about the pro's and con's of each.
Add, ACR Viper, Cobra R, SVT Lighting. and thats my list of domestics i admire.

O yea, forgot about the lightning. I'm not a fan of the Cobra R. Personally it was made for those people who just wanted to road course, which is absolutely great IMO for Ford to do that, but the limited production run, and the high pricetag made it a poor car IMO. I would much rather have say a Zo6, and modify it slightly for the twisties even more. The Cobra R doesnt have AC, no sound system, IMO it isnt a good street car for daily driving. I am not an expert on the viper I guess, so I cant say too much about that one, they have always been too pricey for me to have any friend who owns one, or for me to even take the time to really look into them that much. Not downplaying the car, just saying I dont know much about it so I cant comment really.

Future.... yeah.. that was me alright.... I really liked the imports i have owned, especially the eclipses. Just not enough raw power for me....
I also had the white Dodge Avenger that was slammed on the ground with mirrored tint... I picked it up for almost nothing and drove it for a bit, and sold it.

For about 1000 dollars they'll go from a 15 second car stock to a very low 13 second car (like 13.1 without a problem), some have even hit mid 12's for less than 1000, how is that not enough raw power? I dont remember seeing your car, must have been an NT model I guess. I used to own a 95 GS model, and yea I have to say that thing was slow as could be.

yeah,, it was a non-turbo.... when i made the comment about it being a sleeper, i wasn't refering to all eclipses... I would have killed to have a turbo.
But on the side of raw power.. the WS-6 will go 12.9 bone stock.... putting out 325/345... That's what i'm talking about when i say raw power....
Don't want to step on any shoes.... I really like the imports too...... just not my thing anymore

yea now, i am out of the whole "imports are cooler than domestics" phase. now i want a BALANCED car. maybe not best of the one world but superior/decent in both worlds. i would hate to have a 500 hp car dat cant handle shit.
nor have a great handling car and get beaten by a civic si :)
my next car must be rwd or awd. factory forced induction or na rated hp of 250 hp or more(flywheel). manual transmission or sequential manual transmission (the TRUE manual w/o clutch... ie. smg of bmw or smt of toyota) none of this automatic in disguise bullshit.
although i like most of the newer "muscle" cars like WS-6, SS, Cobra, Z-06.... i just cant see myself in it. i mean, damn... i many asians do you see in a domestic muscle car? hahaha.

Exactly why I said those are the few that I do give respect to. Although that 12.9 is by FAR not an average time. More around mid to low 13's are more average am I right? Almost all conditions have to be perfect and you have to have a near perfect driver to pull off that 12.9 is my understanding, but it has been done. Also I dont believe the 12.9 was on street tires also :) neener neener neener

12.9 on street tires..... and the M6 tranny A-4 cars are a little slower producing about a 13.1... with perfect conditions of course.... and a lot of driver But they're still good numbers to throw out... ha

my car has nearly 10" of tread on each tire... granted they're not sticky's... but they bite well enough to produce those numbers
98ws6ls1, u definatly picked the wrong type of car as ur "import" project. i can definatly understand why u went domestic, ur eclipse must have tainted ur view of imports...because it did the same when i saw it. glad u got the WS6.

12.9 is a definate possible time u could turn with ur car. no doubt its very easy to get massive amounts of power from a ls1. do u have any timeslips?

Wow, I'm even more impressed then. I always thought it was on slicks since it was the "best" time they could pull stock, just figured it had to have been on slicks.
