I have an auto, when i floor it there is no respone for maybe half a second then it moves. Are there any ways to improve this or is my car so weak that the engine cant get the wheels moving right away?

a better throttle body usually makes for better throttle response...

stand on the brake, rev it to ~3000, then jump on the gas/off the brake when the lights drop

:dunno: maybe a leak somewhere in the intake hose or gasket could be making this worse?:dunno:

Make sure you tranny fluid's full first...
If the car's to weak to move it's fat ass, then you'd hear the engine fightin to move it.
Sounds like a torque converter or valve body problem to me, somewhere in the tranny.

yes, low fluid in an auto can cause the car to not even go anywhere, always good idea to check that out, and did it just start doing it recently or has it always been like this, you could just have a slow car....

If it's too full, it could cause the car to stall so be careful. Also sounds like a tune-up may help. Make sure you have good plugs (and the right kind too!). If your car has a distributor, you may want to change your plug wires. Replace the fuel filter and clean/replace the air filter. If you have the time and tools, you could also check/clean the plumbing for the throttle body.

try tightening the throttle cable a little bit.. there's usually some slack there so old grannys don't scare themselves when they floor it.

yea u can tighten ur tranny cable or get a new throttle body. u might want to look into a fuel pump possiblility

Do you hear your engine rev up and then there is a delay? Or is the delay before you hear the engine rev up..?

Common problem in MR2's (all i know :-/) is throttle issues/tps.

Auto trany... eww, doesn't sound good. Check fluid, leaks, and stall. Or hey, get a 5peed.
