I am going, but I will be leaving earlier this time. Last time I felt to rushed. We won't get lost this time and I do need to check what time I am running. I still like to be there to walk the course and all that well in advance. Plus, my main SM competition is running in the first heat.

I'm going too.

I know that registration open's at 9:00 AM and the first car is off at 12:00.

We should probably try to get there around 10:00. That would give us plenty of time to walk the course and so you guys can switch tires.

The Burger King sound fine to me. How long does it take to get to Dinwiddie from the Peninsula?

First car isn't off until 12:00. Thats Late. Looks like the club is going to need to invest in a set of rally lights for those who run late in the order.

Eric knows a "back way" from hampton that only takes about 1.5 hours or so I think. Lets see what he says. If the first car isn't even going to leave until 12PM then getting there early is a waste of time. It also says that they will allow a walkthru between heat 2 and 3 which should be fine for most of us. I would like to walk thru once before 12pm and then get the car ready and walk thru once again between 2+3. I would think getting to the site by 11am should be fine.

I try to leave by 9 am to get there around 10:30. And yes, I always go the scenic way. It is about the same amount of time as the interstate, but it is about 20 miles shorter distance.

Guys on the southside may want to just meet us there and go down RT 460. It is about 1.5 hours from norfolk going that way. You just take 460 west to 95 north to 85 south to RT 1 south.

What ever you guys want to do.

Yeah, that's the way I've been in the past.

Where do you think would be a good meeting spot for us on the southside?

It’s full at this time. You can come and try to be a walk on but they already have 5 people on standby for that also. This club seems pretty organized.

They typically have a fairly large number of no-shows. If you mail or whatever to get on the waiting list and show up, most of the time they will find time to get you in to run. I have seen them have over half of their entries no-show. Call and talk to the person putting the event on and see what they think.

You can run them in the cold, just start at a lower psi. try 38f/35r and go from there are days where it is cloudy and cold.

I can make it out there by 8:30. Lessens my chance of getting lost.

Yeah, that should make me jump from lane to lane

BTW, I ordered 2 replacement tires in preps for FATT in december. If they ship today, they will be here thursday and then I need to get them mounted and balanced friday.

Anyone know of a place I can get them high speed balanced? (I don't want your average low speed balance).

ok, well, for me the day was very long. mad props to the free air compressor from VMP. once out on the course, it was slippery as hell. the 1st run, i proceeded to perfrom my first spin out. brakes and hold on!

the second run, i checked up for the slippery slalom, but punched it the rest of the way, finding out the brake zone limits. murdering a cone at the start of the horse shoe

the third, was going terrific until one corner i set up for, hit the brakes, and it felt like nothing happened. i'm still not sure if i hit some oil, locked the brakes up, or was low on brake fluid (checked it later) and didn't get any resistance. i didn't hear any squealing so i dunno? so literally going through the wall of cones killed that run.

4th run, i needed a clean one, as i was substituing for jackie's absense on the other runs. I broke earlier in a few questionary spots, and managed to pull out a clean run of 45.0XX. the National Pro in my class ran a 44.2XX so i guess i did ok for a conservative run.

i heard that the pros are in a different class than regular races so i might have got first in my class. i didn't see anyone faster than me in my class, but i could have missed them. overall it was fun, a great day weather wise, and i'll definitely be at VMP for the next one.

Was this your first time running on Asphalt as opposed to concrete? If so then it is not surprising you spun.

no, it was concrete, but very sandy and had rocks scattered about (yet the pavement wasn't broken up)

I'll take it a step further. It's not the only place to run and we still pay $20 bucks to run there. Part of the issue is that it's so close and it is the convienent. Once I am in the car the surface is not that much on an issue to me any more.

Not bad since I only got one run in. I was still faster than 40+ people :D That is going to hurt my points though. I doubt I will get the VW marque award now since Bill and I were only 300 pts apart.

dammit. 2nd in class, i new that jetta was fast but i wasn't sure how much. at least i got beat out by a VeeDub instead of a nissan, hahahahaha. sorry. heh. but anyways, a respectable 12th in PAX consiring there were 3 pros there, and a lot of the best in VA period. i probably could have bumped up a bit if i didn't have the mistery fuck up the 3 run. but oh well, all was fun, can't wait to race again.

Oh well, always next time.

they only posted my first two runs. My best was a 42.103. I emailed them so hopefully they will include my best time. That should move me up in PAX and Fast times.

VMSC gets the idea for results. I like the format. Basically what we used to get back in the dark ages when we used to compile the results by hand, and send them out in the mail.
