Does anyone else's branch have a stop loss out? Effective January 15th for the Marine Corp, NOONE is moving or getting out until further word is passed.
So, looks like I won't be getting out in June. I'm sure that it'll still be in effect by then.

As long as the U.S. is still preparing for war, I'm sure it will stay in effect. Sorry to hear about your luck.

Does that mean we are definetly going to war....?

I would imagine it's the same for all branches. You can't run away just before a big fight!

I heard the Army is asking volunteers to change MOS and if they don't get enough they won't let you re-enlist unless you go infantry. And they aren't letting anyone out either right now

We've been "going to war" since sometime in November.

This IS what I signed up for, but first I was to smart to be a "tanker" (tank crewman). So, I had to go electronics... now I'm stuck at a HQ company. I'm never going to go overseas, although I would like to.

If he's retiring, then he should get out no problem anyway.
Unless you have a garunteed MOS feild, there's a good chance you will.

They can do that, the USMC does it all the time.

they're also calling up reserves. a buddy of mine is ex-recon in the reserves, he has to report the 13th. i think war is a foregone conclusion.

Are they going to call in the draft? I mean I don't care either way I've been looking for a way into the Marines.

I REALLY doubt there's going to be a draft, unless North Korean feels like gettin some too. Then you might as well pick your branch before they pick it for you :p

If they do start the draft back up, prepare to start hanging with the the infantry....if your considering going into the military go in now so you can pick your MOS, unless you really WANT to be a part of "operation: fleshwall"

They are pushin the issue to reinstate the draft and HARD. If ya get drafted youre gonna be infantry. So if you meet criteria go in, at least you will be able to do what ya want instead of waht they want.

I can'nt enlist right now, I have certain "legal" matters that need to be attended to first. Otherwise I would be in the Marines already, and my MOS would be computer(or something electronic). Maybe I can talk to my recruiter right now and he could get me in without me having to go through the draft. That would be sweet.

Yeah I know MPs in the Army have been extended for another Year which gives me more time to fix my Car.

If they're saying you're garunteed a certain MOS... MAKE SURE that it's the full MOS, not just the feild. I was told I was going to be in electronics and work on aircraft. Well, I'm in electronics, but I didn't go to the aviation school, I got sent to ground electronics. I was naive and it got the best of me. ENSURE that you have your exact MOS garunteed. On your papers where it asks something to the effect of, "Do you know what your job/MOS will be in the Marines?". Put the exact MOS that you want, that way if you don't get it, you can request a seperation under false enlist (at the Governments fault) or an immediate transfer to your appropriate MOS. Someone that I started school with did that, he had specifically listed Aviation and they sent him to ground, he'd noted that it was to be aviation electronics and off he went to Pensacola for the school.

Actually if anyone watched teh hews, you'd know that the draft isnt a real bill to be passed, they're just doing it to show the reality. And on top of that, they're prolly not gonna initiate war soon cause they cant get a VALID reason. And the earliest possible anyway would be like march

The U.S.A. does'nt need a reason to go to war.

If they can't call it a war, or get it to pass. Then we just call it a Conflict until we kick their ass or it becomes a war.

What is the pay for starting military ie: Navy, Marines, AF etc. Just curious, I know they should be paid more. What benifits does the job come with. What other things come with military, IE family pay etc. What is the cut off ( age ) to join. Just a couple questions.

Marines
Starting pay is around $1k a month for a single E1.
"Time in Service" raises at 2, 3, 4 and then every 2 years after 4.
Every year we get a certain % raise to keep up w/ the civilian world.
Get extra pay for a family, living off base (if approved), being deplyed, hazard pay, flight time, etc.
Cut off age is 26 I believe.

You know thats a real shame thats all they get paid, the least paid are first in line( literally ). I guess the only way to make good money is go to school before you go then inlist as an officer.
How else can you make 30- 40 k a year.
