I just put a $3500 deposit down on this (http://www.yamaha-motor.com/products/mcy/media/vr/04/yzfr1/vr1_silv-0820.html). I should have it in a month. I can't wait to get it and keep the streets hot. It has 155hp at the wheel.

thats one bad bitch... i can't wait to see how it compares against my bike and the all new other three 1000's for 2004... so far the tests have mine, the honda, and the kawasaki pretty much all dead even, but yamaha didn't provide a R1 for the testing, my guess is it will probably one up everything but we will have to see... i know in AMA racing the superstock R1 is going fast enough as the superbike machines in testing to be competitive, and thats a whole different class bike with a whole different level of modications allowed, definetly impressive

when you get it come to richmond and catch me on the interstate i'm dying to run all the new bikes

Thanks guys I don't know about GSX-R 1000 that is a bad bike. The guy at the dealership said the 04 weighed 2oz more than the 600. Can we say wheelie monster. The zx-10 is 375lbs and has 184hp and the r1 is 379lbs with 180hp. The honda website doesn't have either one on the 1000rr and my computer won't pull up the suzuki website. So I don't think there will be that much of a difference.

Del we can do that. I just want to break it in right before I start beating the shit out of it.

cant wait for the 04 bikes come out The year of the 1000cc !! Is this your first bike?

here are the numbers from the first real comparo... basically they are all equal, some do one thing a teeny tiny bit better than the other, but give them to a different set of riders and the order could easily all be flipped flopped, so in other words so far every 04' liter bike is dead even, i wish your bike was in this though

Here's the stat's:

1/4 standing mile:
Kawa - 10.5sec - 142.81mph
Honda - 10.55sec - 141.27mph
Gixxer - 10.55sec - 140.54mph

Top Speed:
Kawa - 179.8 - 31sec
Honda - 150 - called off due to ice
Gixxer - 179.03 - 32 sec

Braking 70-0:
Kawa - 50.101m - 3.88 sec
Honda - 50.247m - 3.74sec
Gixxer - 53.783m - 3.40sec

Top Gear Roll-on 40-120:
Kawa - 365.35m - 10.4sec
Honda - 416.97m - 11.4sec
Gixxer - 354.29m - 10sec

HP:
Kawa: 147.7 @11.600 - 1st
Gixxer: 144.4 @10,600 - 3rd
Honda: 146.6 @11,000- 2nd

TQ:
Kawa: 74.6 @9400 - 1st
Gixxer: 74.8 @9600 - 2nd
Honda: 73.9 @8600 - 3rd

the dry weights you didn't mention are 371 for my bike, and 396!!!! for the honda, but hondas are always heavy, they are just balanced so they perform well, but this year looks like they were big on power for the first time in a while.... but like i said, its all close enough to where a different group of test riders and a different dyno could probably change everything

Check with your dealer but I read that in a unusual marketing stragedy Yamaha has just realesed the R1's to dealers before even the first test ride has gone out, so they should be there now

i also heard a good joke... someone asked "How long until the '04 R1 hits the show room floor?", the answer "5 seconds after the first newbie sits on it" haha

I call today and he said he called but, they will call later. So....I'm not sure when I will get it.

i just ordered a new plate for my bike today... i was trying to think of a plate that would make fun of either the 1000RR, your bike, or ZX10 which are all gunning to dethrone the gixxer, so i got '04 EATR' so i can simultaneously shit talk all the new 04 bikes with my plate... i have a feeling first day at the drag strip i will be eating it though from the R1 and the ZX10, but the honda i can't imagine will give me much trouble, but its all in good fun, lots of competition this year

Yea it all in good fun. Now I will know its you if I ever see you on the road. I just need to think of something for mine. I'm going to have to learn how to keep both wheels on the ground before I try the track.

Del La Sol 1320
02-11-2004, 10:14 AM
actually where i have my plate mounted to the shock flap along with adding the rear hugger you can't see any of it when your behind me, so kinda pointless but for $5.00 it was worth it

yea i think keeping the front wheel on the ground is going to be a big problem, in 2nd gear too for you i'm sure, but going to the track is a great way to learn

if its a 1000 it could be the R1, ZX10R, or CBR1000RR

04' R6 is a awesome bike, i had my friend's 03' for a few weeks and loved it, what color?

Blue, but i just found out today that my position at my job has been replaced with someone without a school schedule to work around, so ive been kicked from 11 bucks an our to 8. And that just wont cut it for an '04 bike. :(

Back to searching i guess.

The zx-10 is a nice bike. That sucks about you job. I'm sure you can find something you like in your price range.

Is there a kit to mount the tag like that or did you make something. I have seen some you can buy that go under the tail but I don't think it is the same thing you have. I wonder if I can do that with how the exhaust is.

Yeah, your right. I found a '01 Yamaha YZF600. Is this an R6, or are they two completely different things? You all know im new to bikes, so i wouldnt know from looking at it. But its only 3500 and thats right in my price range, so if it has potential, then im all for it.

No its a different bike. My first bike was a 00 yzf600. The r6 has 2 seats that one has 1 big seat. I think its a good starter bike. If you want to do stunts it might not be a good bike. I never got the front tire off the ground. I wasn't trying to but it does not have the power to do it. How many miles does it have. That doesn't sound like a bad price either.

7200 miles, garage kept, D&D slip-on (whatever that is), after market shield & matching HJC Helmet (which i already have).

Even though its a good starter bike, will i be wanting a new one in a year because that one is too weak? Id like my first purchase to be something ill be content with for the next 3 years. I cant forsee having the money to get another bike until then, so id like to have something that has some power to start with even if i a noob. This way i dont feel compelled to have to get another bike. So that being the case, do you still think i should look at getting it, or should i wait a little longer and see what else i can find?

D&D slip-on (whatever that is)

That is the exhaust, its not a full exhaust more like just putting a muffler on.

I don't know what to say about the bike cause I don't know you. Do you know how to ride a dirtbike, 4 wheeler. How do you ride things, are you balls to the wall when you ride stuff.

Del La Sol 1320

it could be a R6 or a 600R, both were made in '00 and both are YZF-600's, its kinda confusing and they get mis-listed all the time... a good friend of mine got a 600r as his first bike, he's ready to move up to something faster now but he rode the absolute shit out of it and can keep up with us on our newer faster bikes no problem at all, leave me in some parts when his balls are bigger

the yzf600 is a touring bike.
very comfy, a bit heavier than the R6 and has less hp than the R6

Havent ridden a damn thing. I take my road course class in two weeks, so thats when i'll find out. But i live in a neighborhood where i can just roll around on a bike till i get the hang of it. And yes, i have a very strong conviction, that once i feel very comfortable with my bike, i will be balls to wall with it, and eventually want to learn how to do certain things (im especially curious of this "knee draging").

I think im just going to save my money for the next month and hope i can save enough to combine with a loan to get this '03 R6 i found for 5,500. Sounds like a good price for the year and mileage (1,700).

if you do get a ss bike keep tabs on your wrist :) you can get into trouble REAL fast, get full gear and take an MSF class(helps with insurance to).. you can get an r6 for your first bike, but dont think you can handle it, if you think like that, it will handle you..

finally saw one on the street about 2 weeks ago, i wanted to give it a run on the interstate but he was a state trooper, and it wouldn't have been fair anyways, he was about 300 lbs and i'm all of 145 soaking wet... but its a awesome looking bike, and obviously performs
