I signed up for a High Performance Driving Event (HPDE) at VIR. I cant wait. They are the most fun I have ever had. Let me know if anyone else is going. Maybe we will have a small group. Here is a link, click on 2003 HPDE Schedule (http://www.nasaracing.net/trackday/index.shtml). Cost is $300 so it is not cheap but it is very fun.

If that is too soon I plan to instruct at the Mazda Drivers event (http://mazdadrivers.com) March 29th and 30th. This is the north course only. Don't anyone tell them I have never run the north course :)

Yah ditto on the North course.. I'll be instructing as well assuming they aren't all full up - otherwise I'll drive... I hate to wait until March - but new project car is chewing up $$ :(

I'll be VIR in Feb. Hopefully I will have the car back from the body shop. If not, the CSP car gets a turn on the track.

I resereved a room at the Day's Inn in South Boston. Maybe we could all get together in the same area and do dinner and stuff.

I had to sign up for NASA membership also in order to register. It was another $35 for a year membership. The site says it is required to have to be at the event. Or did I get ripped?

You got ripped. When I went I also signed up for the membership and after I got there I found out that the first time you participate you do not need the membership. Oh, well. I don't know if that is still true or not. You do get a quarterly NASA Magazine if that makes you feel any better.

Yeah, I have instructed with NASA and not been a member. I think you only need to be a member to enter the races, not the participate in the HPDE events.

I think they have changed that this year (don't quote me) I seem to recall somebody saying that they would be checking membership numbers.

I paid for a NASA membership a few years ago and never got my membership.... I wrote to them several times about it, but never got anything back.

It is an insurance regulation anyway, nothing that is done by NASA. The idea of the insurance company is that someone is less likely to make a frivilous lawsuit against an organization they are a member of. It sort also implies that you are partially responsible for how the organization is being run, so if something happens because of neglegence, then you are actually partially responsible.

Maybe next year for me.

There is a girl from NC with a Spec V going, she posted on one of the Sentra forums about attending. You'll have to let me know how my car looks out there. :)

For those of you who are going, are you staying in Danville or S. Boston. I stayed at the Best Western in S. Boston last time & was not impressed. My cell phone (Sprint) didn't like it there either.

I have always stayed at the innkeeper west in danville proper.. it's not bad - esp if you get a room with a fridge for uhmm. beverages. It's on the far side of danville, but still only about 20 mins from vir.

I have stayed there before. I dont think it is that great either. Has a good Mexican resteraunt and is only 50 for two double beds. That works out to only 50 for both nights with sharing a room.

I forgot that event was the instructor clinic. NASA wants me to go to one of those (as if I am going to learn something at one). I guess I should make some effort to show up there.
