Good, I'm waiting on 660 cc's and ecu. The hks2835r feels great but its too risky to drive with stock injectors. This turbo spools real fast and has been making 17-18 psi with the avc-r turned off! very scary. 12 psi is safe with the stock 370's, but no more. I think that the 17 psi is being made due to the int. wastegate being too small because my actuator should only allow 7-9. also got an act 6 puck, due to shitty spec clutch burning up.

hey are you the one with SRDET swap? if so, i saw you last year at wade's with jeff.
aluminum wing right?!
nevertheless, your car looks sweet.

That would be me. Yeah, I remember you. How's it going? ( the wings a lot lower now by the way)
Jeff Taylor
12-17-2002, 06:17 PM
Hey Justin...glad to hear the car is running well...just be careful with that boost...I blew my engine running 17-18 psi after 3 runs down the track.
Maybe you could try plumbing the wastegate directly into a boost source to see if it lowers your boost any...

Welcome. I'm assuming there aren't many grey Silvas around here w/aluminum wings, I've got some videos of you running earlier in the year @ Natural Bridge if you want them. BTW what shop in Christiansburg do you run?
welcome justin. This is dan by the way. Finally made ur way up here. beast of a 240 you have too...cant wait until its done :)

haha..only 1 bar on the street. Alot faster tho now that its tuned...its tuned to a bit higer boost so its a bit rich. But still a huge difference. Ill be back on Friday the 3rd of Jan. I will def stop in and give you a ride.
Jeff Taylor
01-02-2003, 11:03 PM
Tuned to higher boost, so it's running rich? What ratio FMU are you using?
I hope he isnt running an FMU at all.
Jeff Taylor
01-03-2003, 08:06 AM
Me too. But I don't see how else he would run rich if his engine is tuned for higher boost. With a properly tuned super AFC or aftermarket ECU he shouldn't have those problems.
20psi 240sx
01-03-2003, 09:19 AM
what a/f ratio would you call rich? i wouldn't run it any leaner then 12.0 to 1 above 4000rpm. make sure you can see a nice black smoke from its asshole. if you aren't seeing black smoke fromt the cars anal cavity, you are too lean for a turbo car on street gas.
shaun
"oh, i see" said the blind man.
1 Bar, ~ 14.7 psi with a 12:1 FMU = 176 psi fuel pressure....haha, i hope its not an FMU..

My car is tuned for a higher boost. Boost is not totally realitive to fuel...your actual HP is what counts when you are looking at fuel going in. My car right now was tuned at a dif boost than I am running on the street. Therefore my car is a bit rich...I would just compensate it a little and change it for the boost I am running on the street. But I do run the other boost sometimes and I would rather be rich on the street and have my car tuned for the optimal HP at my higher boost setting and keep it that way. Why mess up a tuned car.

My car has plenty of black smoke. I have a wideband o2 sensor. So the car doesnt lean out, well if it did I would let off...just right now the car seems to be at about 9.5:1-10.5:1 a/f at one bar. Higher boost leans it out to about my 12:1 sometimes 12.5:1

WOW!!
Jeff Taylor
01-04-2003, 12:40 PM
turbo hatchy - you must be tuning your fuel with a S-AFC then, right? You basically increase/decrease the fuel by a percentage at specific engine speeds, right? I was originally thinking you had an engine management system or reprogrammed ECU, which control your injectors according to a 16x16 fuel map.
I see what you mean, varying the boost on a S-AFC tuned engine would change the A/F ratio at different boost levels. However, with an ECU, the computer bases the injector pulse width not only on engine speed, but MAP or the MAF signal as well.
20psi 240sx
01-04-2003, 05:17 PM
so....what you are saying is that the ecu fondles the engine until black smoke emits from the car's sweetest nector, that is its asshole!
btw, its saturday night! where is everyone racing tonight?

Williamson road in Roanoke is the ultimate source for jokes about purple tint, chrome fender trim, and 88' Ford Escorts on deep-dish wheels. Sometimes people meet and then go street race later, but you have to catch it on a good night. Then again, if you don't, you still might be able to hook up with 15 year old trailer trash, or do some sweet late night bowling. Hey, if all goes well, you might even get to wrap up the night by hanging out in the Hooters' parking lot with white guys rocking corn rows. Don't forget to bring some orange Nehi soda and some Newports!

By the way, I heard that everyone is cruising and meeting at Radford rd. in Christiansburg nowadays. It must be the new hot spot. Everyone should cruise on Radford rd. (even though cruising is gay.)

What's wrong w/smoking Newports?
I think the best cars out on Williamson were/are the pink Stealth w/the 3 wings molded together and the Festiva w/hydraulics.

Dude, that stealth is the craziest thing that I've EVER seen. It has to weigh 6000 lbs with all the bondo. The owner has got to have some serious mental irregularities. It looks like an aliens vagina.

We went out to Williamson last night and followed the fast & furious streetracing gang around...unfortunately it was the same old shit I remember from back in highschool...we'll drive around for hours trying to find a spot to race, but once we get there no one will race. There's usually nothing but riced out neons, civics, and stock v8's. The best part of the night was watching a 280 pound kid in a 3-speed automatic Neon with a shift light getting his ass kicked by every car out there.
At the end of the night, I only raced one car that held up to me -- Shauns 240sx (20psi240sx)...watching that car pull away from me was absolutely incredible.

3 speed Autos are the fucking devil. That had to have been Chrysler's biggest screw up. Those things couldn't pull on a 3 cylinder Metro.

I showed my face in the Volvo S70, lost two races against an auto Z28 camaro and a porsche boxster, darn traction control. Had no boost in 1st gear, got dogged pretty badly.
All I had to do was push the little button on the dash to illuminate the light and turn it off, darn it helps to read the manual sometimes, I thought it was normally off, whoops.
Ahh well, the reputation of a slow S70 stands, exxxcellent

It's about 2850 lbs stock, I have removed:
Sparetire
Jack
A/C system ~40 lbs
Backseats and seatbelts ~38 lbs
Rear Wiper Sprayer and Tank
Lightweight Rims
Lightened Flywheel
Racing Seats
Cat
Carpet Pieces
Misc. Brackets
One Radiator Fan
There's more, but that gives you an idea ;)
I haven't gone on the scales yet, but it's an estimate. A friend of mine has his MX6 down to 2300 lbs, runs a 14.3 all motor with few mods ;)

I wouldn't strip down both of your cars, it gets annoying after awhile. I put the interior in back of my daily Neon just because I didn't want to go deaf from road noise and got tired of the sight my uncarpeted floor and wires hanging from the dash. If you're thinking about going on a diet, I would just do easily removable stuff that you wouldn't notice.

s14's weigh around 2800 or so stock. I have removed front bumper, rear bumper, power steering, AC, Heating, all the heating and ac shit from under the dash, rear seats are out, sound deadening tar is removed, trunk is stripped no spare tire, got momo seats, harnesses(those stock seatbelt housings are kinda chunky), SR20 is lighter than the KA, and removed every unwanted braket, bolt, piece of whatever, air bags are out, momo steering wheel(stock one is heavy) and I drive naked. I need to get it on the scales. By the way I weigh 432 lbs, But I think most of it is in my cock.
