I only used a parking lot once, and I'm suprised we got away with it. An AMod car blasting around in the FX lot in the middle of the afternoon is not inconspicuous.....

I thought about that before, but I really don't know of any locations where you wouldn't get busted. Just take a drive down some backroads in Pungo and Chesapeake, there are some fun turns out there.

Why can't you race?

You practice everytime you drive. Practice being smooth during turns, shuffle steering and smooth shift transitions. Everything that you do in an auto-x can be practiced every day during normal driving.

There is usually a pratice day on Saturday before the events at Fentress. Basically people come out and help set up the course and after setup they will pratice the course backwards or something like that. It is usually very informal as long as you have put in a little sweat equity in helping set the course up. I think ODR basically does something similiar at Pungo, but I am not sure.

It's a whole lot safer than driving to school or work! You only have to worry about your car and not every body else.

You should have them come to an event and see it for themselves so they know that experienced adults are running things and that it's as safe as it can get.

Calvin !! we've been called "adults" !! If that's true, why do we have to get permission to go out and play with our cars? :)

I meant as apposed to a bunch kids drinking and racing somewhere out in Pungo, which is what some people's parents might think if they told them they wanted to go.

No offense to the young at heart, and I was reffering to myself as well. :D

If it helps, tell your parents TSCC has insurance against anything YOU do to the site, plus in the eyes of your insurance company, you are not racing. It's Driver Improvement. Show them the video (if you have Broadband, it's on the site). And then drag them out to see. You really don't get going that fast. This past sunday I was bouncing off the rev-limiter in 2nd gear which means about 65mph. That's the quickest I've been in a while.

when i first told my parents i was gonna start racing, the first thing my dad asked me was if it was legal. the second thing he said to me was how safe is it. my mom still worries about me when i go race. even though you may try to explain it too them, its so much easier for them to understand if they come watch, my dad came out two weeks ago to pungo, and he actually enjoyed it, nows hes telling me shit like i should buy another car so i have a dailey driver and one to race in, he also told me he wants to come out more often and watch me and my friends.

as far as asking permission, i agree with dave, im 22, i have to ask my wallet.

(me and dave talking)
Andrew: man i need to go grocery shopping....
Dave: we have a race this sunday
Andrew: nevermind, ill go next week.

:D
