So who is running in the Mid-Atlantic Time Trial Series for 2003?
I am prepping the Krylon Special Lite for GT3. Has anyone run any of the hill climbs yet?

don't know yet... I believe it is close to $100. 2 days of racing, looks like they get about 10 runs depending on how many "off-road" excursions they have.
You will need a roll bar / cage, and a 5/6 point harness. It looks like we are going by the GCR for the rule book. You have to be a member of the SCCA. Belts must be no older than 2 years old.
But don't go by what I say, get the GCR
guess they bring out the beaters good god...

Kinda dig that NA MR2. I have thought about putting Webers on my car just to hear that sound again. Won't happen but it would be cool. Anyway, Have fun at the event.

I used to keep up with the Solo I rules, but never ran because I had a road race car. Now that I don't race anymore I might want to give them a try. $100 entry fee is ok. It used to be that they allowed SOLO II SP cars with cage, cell, harness, fire system. I guess you also need drivers suit.... Hummmm. Might have to give this a try.

ok, here's my thoughts.
- looks like fun.
- definitely would need to get more safety items, as the autox car doesn't have cage/seats, etc. then need upgraded equipment, including brake pads/rotors. might as well just get another car, which comes to...
- need money. i'm waiting for this schooling to pay off.
- definitely interested in checking it out. keep us informed. i'd have no problem (if time allows) to take a road trips w/ some boys on the board to see what it's all about.

checking out the SCCA website. i noticed these rules...
"Solo Trials events are entry level events and provide a speed rush without the possible dangers of the following venues. These events can be run without a driver's suit and/or rollbar (unless you have a convertible). "
of course, MATTS is a different organization.
Also, i noticed, that my 94 accord 4 door doesn't class in anything. closest thing is 95-97 (94 is same gen??) 2 door, and that is Stock Showroom class

all I have been told is that I need a suit, with undies (one layer minimum, two recommended) SA Helmet (motorcycle helmets wont work), Roll Bar (notice the word BAR and not cage) Harness.
All I am doing is putting in a window net, maybe getting a full cage as I do have a modified car, and see what happens. I have everything else. I do have a roll bar installed

this is just a suggestion, so...
maybe MATTS should think about adding a class, or classes similar to STS and STX to the races. of course, all necessary safety features should be required, and equipment that is essentrial for road racing shall be installed on the vehicle. having these classes would make the time trials appealing to more ppl. it's just a suggestion. you can't get what you want unless you ask.

The rules of SOLO 1 and MATTS are based on the Club Racing GCR.
Solo 1 has always been the next step up from Cone Dodging. It is really big in europe.
It is a lot higher speed than autoX and the dangers are a lot higher.
Someone made the suggestion of trash cars being used. I really think these are real racecars and not the guys normal everyday driver.
The fee's of 100 dollars and two days of racing twice a month will help to keep out the wannabe boy racers and their moms car.
Having not ran a SOLO 1 since 1987, I can't really tell you how it is going to be. I don't really think they have any problem getting people to show and race. All I know is that my car is listed in GT3, and that is what I am going to run

Solo I for whatever reason is really big in the Alabama, Georgia, Florida, SC, NC areas. Here in VA we used to be in a big void with events south of us, and again up in PA (PHA it used to be). So for me at the time it was more of a trip than going to road races (what I was doing then). If there are some in the Charlottsville area, Jefferson Circuit, VIR, etc. I might like to give it a try again.
I used to live in Huntsville, AL. I went to some Solo I's with some of those guys. Their attitudes were great. It was very much run what you brung. If a car showed up that was safe enough, they found a class to fit it in. The cars were typically very low budget, lower than the guys that maybe run ProSolo or whatever (ok, more than the typical local autocross car, but....). The people were great and pleanty of fun to be around.

i don't know any "moms car" that has a roll cage, 5 point harness, and full race brake pads in them. i'm just saying my car doesn't class in anything. so in order to jump up into solo 1, i need to have another car, and i don't have the money, so it looks like it's gonna be awhile before i do any of this.

Also an idea of what the Summit Point paddock looked like back then. FWIW it has a full roll cage, 5 point harness, racing brake pads, 450hp Boss 302 engine, 10" wide rims, Goodyear Slicks, and lots of other stuff. The car is currently a compeitive Vintage Racer out of Florida.
