footnotes:
A car crash killed two teenagers Monday night and injured another. It happened shortly after 9 o'clock Monday night on Chesapeake Boulevard near Norview High School.
Police said three teenage boys were in a car, speeding down the street. Witnesses told police the car was racing another car. They said they heard the revving of the car engine, saw the car shake from side to side. Then, the driver lost control. The car flipped over, and the impact split the car in two.
One witness tells Your Newschannel 3 she heard the car going very fast down the street, and what she saw left her shaken. She said two of the teens were thrown from the car, one of them landing in the bushes and another was trapped in the car.
"All I heard was a vroooom, and the car flipped over and landed on the other side of the street," said Sade Walke. "I ran down to see if everybody was all right."
All three teens were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. One died Monday night, while another died early Tuesday morning. The third teenager is recovering from his injuries, and as of Tuesday morning, was listed in stable condition.
Police have not said if the teens were wearing their seatbelts. Officers also have not told us the names of the victims.

thats just stupidity if you ask me. Shit at least where i live it was on a back road where noone comes down, or at the track. i mean sorry to hear about them getting killed but still if you look at it is just plain stupidity on their and the other ones part. i've had plenty of friends that made fatal mistakes. It sucks that it happened.

Maybe not everyone in the area is aware of what happened on 564. Some people don't read the newspaper or watch TV.
Dumb thing to be doing and sorry to hear that they died.

maybe they should. they might still be alive if they did.
maby they were just idiots speeding. idn if youve noticed, but everytime a yougperson is killed in an accident that was there own fault, it is speculated that it involved either racing or booze. then, a few days later, on the third page of the news paper is the real story.

You have to rev the engine to speed. Who cares, if you cant control your car, you shouldnt be racing.

So since I have an exhaust on my car, which would make a revving noise, and I get into an accident, would that mean I was street racing? Would also like to know what kind of cars were racing. I jus tthink it was kids acting stupid.

I was wondering what happend. They had Chesapeake Blvd. blocked from Johnston (I think that's the road) all the way passed the high way, and when I dropped my friend off they still had the road blocked from the highway on.
If they release the names, and anyone recognizes them as being a member here let us know.

the engine could have revved when it was flipping since theres no friction on the tires the kids foot could have just pressed the gas while in mid air or something... what was the kid racing?

According to the Wavy site, they were passing another car when they lost control and hit the median.
Those who were lost were Wynston Capel, 17, & Sidney Bennett, 15.

yeah. i stopped to help someone with a flat tire at that exit from 64 east and it was blocked off. road assist stopped a little after saying "you need to hurry up, cause they are openning the exit back up. some fatalities or something down there"
i heard it on the news this morning that "drag racing wasnt involved"

What really happen on 564???? I am just getting back from Iraq and was really into cars and the import sence. and was upset to come back to the cops pulling everyone for nothing but the looks of there cars. I would like some insight on this.
I wonder if he was racing from Johnstons Rd to the highway. That's exactly a 1/4 mile. JAHHH
My condolences to friends and families.

agreed. Its funny how witnesses ALWAYS say they were racing just because they were driving fast. Funny how speculation can turn into fact when it makes it easier to place blame.

i understand what you are saying..but theres a difference between Street racing, and fucking around on the street imagining your car is fast.
im pretty sure i dont fit the "street racer" description...short black male, wearing a fitted hat, black shirt, baggy pants, and tims...but i can just look at their pictures, and see that they werent "heavy" into racing like other people are. Some times profiling works...

the only thing that i could rightfully say is i'm sorry to hear about the incident. sometimes, and more often than not, kids pu themselves into positions that they wish they couldn't be in, and this is one of those.
i'm sorry for the families and the friends of those that died...but street racing is something that will never die out as far as i or anybody can see...
it's like drugs, yeah sure they can crack down on it, but when that happens it seems as if more people are doing it then ever...(just an opinion)

My heartfelt sympathy goes to the famly's and friends of those children. As a mother my heart breaks for the parents and mothers having to bury thier sons right before mothers day. This" is" one of the reasons i am so dedicated to help the younger drivers. This is the reason i want to help find cruz-in spots, help stop the harassment, and much more. And anyone who wants to help can pm me. Help me help you. Dee

i forgot about that too..i really doubt he was racing now.
Dude the Norfolk Police even said he wasn't racing, but they believe speeding was involved. Obviously the kid's car fucking split in half. I mean it was a 90 Accord, but it should've held together a little better than that if he was doing the speed limit. My girl wrote to the person that originally wrote the first article posted and basically said (in better words that I'm going to use) that she needs to watch the kinds of things she say because it raises a flag when you mention younger kid/street racing/accidents all in one story. And when we watched the news tonight and saw that he wasn't racing it made me want to kick the chick that wrote that in the ankle.

One of the guys at I work with wife is a nurse at Sentara. She was there when they bought the two guys in from the wreck. One of them had massive head damage and should live. Apparantley the force of impact was so violent, that his nuts exploded. I had to share that one.
The other guy that died, arrived at the hospital and all was thought to be not so bad with him. He was talking to the nurses and doctors and just died abruptly. They said he had serious internal bleeding and that his liver abruptly ruptured.

News said the kid was 15 and had his learner's permit only.
So we have a kid who's 15 on his learner's permit - Shouldn't he have been with a parent?
So now we have a beginning driver who was most likely speeding and tried to pass, lost control and piled it in.
I'm not heart broken.
Stupidity will get you killed everytime. I'm just glad no innocent bystanders were involved
