Mid Atlantic MEGA MEET #8 (Hurricane Katrina Relief Assistance) [Archive]

The MEGA MEET will be back at the Woodbridge VDOT lot at the intersection of I95 and Rt123 on October 1st from 7:30pm to 11:00pm. Instead of asking for a $1.00 to get in, we will be asking for 1 non-perishable food item per person that we will be donating to the Fredericksburg Food Bank for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The Fredericksburg Food Bank staff will be at the lot with their truck to collect the items during this meet. Please feel free to bring more than one non-perishable food item if you would like because every little bit helps. But please understand that the Fredericksburg Food Bank can only accept non-perishable items. If you forget to bring an item or just don't want to, a $1 donation is still being accepted to get into the lot. Our goal is to show how much the youth/car enthusiast groups in the Mid Atlantic Region care for others around us. Lets make it a huge meet by passing the word along so that we can collect a lot of items for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

anyone that hasn't made it out to this event is SERIOUSLY missing out. the way that the Mega Meet staff puts this together is nothing less than amazing. Come out and make sure you bring any canned food you can find at the house or go to the store and pick up something. And bring something good, no one wants to eat canned olives or anything. lol.

Also, if you bring additional items to the MEGA MEET (a total of 5 or more) you will get 1 free raffle ticket.

Food prices will be as follows....

(1) Hotdog and (1) Soda for $1.00

So for $1.00 you get a hotdog and a soda but not either or. If you do not want one or the other give it to someone. You will not find a better price anywhere else. Also starting this month, all raffle tickets are now only a $1.00 each, or $15.00 for 20 tickets. All the money made from the sale of the raffle tickets and food sales are going to be donated to the Red Cross. I hope that we can have a great showing and collect a lot of food and money for the victims of hurricane Katrina.

And with this new hurricane Rita, at a cat 5 and saying it will be even more destructive then Katrina. We might need to keep this up..... All the help we get get from you guys makes a huge impact in the long run.

You can always take 66 to 123 and follow that all the way into Prince William County and it will pass right by the lot. Or you can take FFX County Parkway to 95 and go from there. Or take FFX County Parkway to 123 and go from there.

Several people have been asking "what are the items that are needed the most?" so here is the correct info. The Fredericksburg Food Bank has put together a shopping list of items that will help the hurricane victims the most....

There are not any "car contests" for this year because we had to get a feel of how it would go our first season of doing the MEGA MEET. However, we do have a raffle and you can purcahse tickets at the meet. The proceeds from the raffle and food sales are all being donated to the American Red Cross. Next year we are planning a couple of "car contests" like a dyno challenge and db challenge. But that is next year so lets have a huge turnout this Saturday the 1st.

I don't think I'm gonna be able to make it now. I'm gonna go to the Dragon in Tennessee next weekend and I'm gonna stay home and do some stuff on my car that has been annoying me. Thanks for the invite though. :)

The Mid Atlantic MEGA MEET is tonight! Just a heads up, you might want to bring a coat for the latter part of the night. The weather man says it might drop down into the 50's around 10pm. Don't forget to bring non-perishable food items.

That was a great turn out. We filled a 20 foot straight truck to the top woth food. That is crazy, thanks to everyone that came out and gave what they could. I hope everyone had a blast.

Last night was one of the largest MEGA MEETS the Mid Atlantic region has seen and it was a blast! It was awesome to see the support that everyone showed for the MEGA MEET by donating all the non-perishable items and money for the hurricane victims. I don't think the Fredericksburg Food Bank was expecting to receive that much. After paying for the officers, pulling out money for the raffle grand prize and other small costs that come with organizing the MEGA MEET....almost $500 will be donated to the American Red Cross. A BIG thanks to everyone who attended the meet last night and made a donation of some sort and to the MEGA MEET sponsors for all the donated raffle prizes and support you give us. The pictures will be uploaded later on this week at www.megameet.org

Thanks Ryan and everyone else (who I don't know but met one after the other in a span of 7 seconds lol) for putting together such a great meet. I've been to a BUNCH of meets, and I gotta say, from the sheer number and variety of cars you guys had...I was very impressed. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Oh, and thanks for the help/accomodation re: parking for the RX-7s, Skyline, and Ultima. Much appreciated :)

Right now, there are only 56 pics uploaded to our website (www.megameet.org) and can be viewed underneath the gallery section. Elson did a great job with them and has finally finished editing the rest of them. I will be uploading the next 40 or so pics on Saturday when I get back to work.

PS: Is it true the Nov. 5th meet is the last meet of this year? If so, when do you start up again?

Yes, it just gets too cold from November until March and it just costs too much to hold the MEGA MEET when not alot of people would attend. So November 5th will be the last meet and then we will be starting it back up the first Saturday of April 2006.
