I'm probably going to pickup a pretty much brand new set for my '87 Toyota beater/daily. How fast do these things wear out? How loud are they? Are they anoying? Will the truck ride better with them?

I figured that out... and talked w/ my pops (he used to have a 72 Blazer on huge tires). I'm not getting them... don't need the high noise and low tire life on a daily commuter truck.

Well i ran 3 sets on mine.(83 toyota) I honestly as in wear and loudness was the #1Thornbirds #2 Swampers #3 boggers.
and ride better.. compared to what? you will have a decent ride a little ruff compared to your suspension setup. but tire wise. noisy yes a good nice WHINe down the highway

BFG Muds have a great wear life, aren't noisey, stay balanced and will get you through most terrain.

I kick myself for gettin these interco (makers of superswamper) truxus mud terrains. They'll be worn out in around 25k, if that, and they've never balanced well. One of them came to me out of round, which is evedentally a common problem with interco tires.

you can get the tsl in radials which will help alot with the ride quality and have better wear. i had boggers on my z71 and they were loud as hell, but they were the best mud tire i have ever used...period! really depends on what kinda driving that you will be doing the most.

VERY LOUD. IF YOUR NOT IN THE MUD YOU SHOULD JUST RUN REGULAR MUD TERRAINS

I finally decided on the Firestone Destination MT's and couldn't be happier with them.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Firestone&tireModel=Destination+M%2FT

They've been rated as a top tire for a few months now and perform better then 99% of the other tires I've seen.

Just my 2 cents

BFG AT's are the best all around, affordable street/light offroad tire IMO. I like mine a lot. Not too loud at all, excellent Wet traction, ample sand traction. Never used in mud or snow yet. Great wear as well.

 ours actually did better in the snow than the MT's
